SUPER CRITICAL FLUID EXTRACTION/SUPERCRITICAL CO2 EXTRACTION:
AMAR’s Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SCFE/SFE) Systems extract chemical compounds using supercritical carbon dioxide instead of an organic solvent. The supercritical fluid state occurs when a fluid is above its critical temperature and critical pressure, when it is between the typical gas and liquid state. Varrying the temperature and pressure combination of the fluid can solubilize the material of interest and selectively extract it. These systems (SCFE) have their own advantages such as one can get high potency of active components, longer shelf life of extract, high yields compare to solvent extracted products.
PROCESS
In Supercritical fluid extraction/Supercritical CO2 extraction (SFE/SCFE) the sample is placed in an extraction vessel and pressurized with CO2 to dissolve the sample. Supercritical Fluid Extraction system may consists of stirred autoclave / pressure reactor or a non-stirred extraction pressure vessel. Liquid CO is charged through a CO2 pump (Possitive displacement pump with inbuit peilter cooling) or a booster. CO2 is maintained at low temperature to keep it in liquid stage at lower pressure by providing a heat exchanger before the pump. Suitable chiller is used to maintain low temperature of CO2. The material to be extracted is placed in an extraction vessel & pressurized with CO to dissolve the sample with desired temperature control. It is then transferred to a separator where it is depressurized (by manual / automated back pressure regulator) resulting in precipitation of desired material & separated CO can be recycled. PC operated complete automated system can be offered. Special booster pump for liquid CO is also available on request.
